Hello Shane et al.
Is [British] Pressed Steel the same as Armstrong Siddeley? I believe not.
BPS was an independent metal stamping company which produced body shells for
quite a variety of car manufacturers in the 1960's, (probably before and
after, too). They made the first 6,000 Volvo P-1800 shells (the full
1961-63 model run which were assembled at the Jensen factory, as were our
Sunbeams.) BPS continued making *some* shells under license to Volvo after
the 1800 was being assembled entirely in Sweden, at least through the 1967
production year.
Armstrong Siddeley was another concern altogether, yet like Jensen,
provided an assembly line and an experienced automotive labor force for hire
to companies which had insufficient or no facilities of their own. And like
Jensen, they produced their own automobiles as well.
Cheers, David
