I have a lot of miles on both SU's (I learned to drive in a Rover 2000TC)
and Strombergs. I'd hesitate to say that the Strombergs are more
tempermental. The basic SU design dates from 1909, the Stromberg is a
half-century more modern rethink of the constant-downdraft concept.

I am still trying to identify my engine for sure. The stamp is weak.
As best I can read it with a bright halogen light:
The Block #A3805622 OD LUX
The Head #C22155 (I don't think its aluminum)
Any one know what Rootes vehicle this came out of. I looks identical to
all the pictures and diagrams I have of the Alpine engine, with the
exception that the Oil Filler tube is at the front instead of the rear.
