Hi Rob
Theres a rootes web page with all the chassis numbers on it, which I've used
many times in the past. It is
http://www.team.net/www/rootes/chassis.html
According to this your engine came from a series 2 rapier, manufactured
between feb and sept of 1959.
The suffixes are...
OD = overdrive
first letter L = L.H.D. export
sec letter U = Estate car
3rd letter X = Non standard.
what type of car have you got? I haven't heard of any rapier estates, (which
may explain the non standard designation).
Greg
