Ian, If you have the time and energy, I believe it to be a worthy task. I'd like
to suggest the rating bracket of #1 - 5, with #1 being the ground-up trailer queen
and #5 the junkyard parts donor.
IMO, it is important to clearly state (within reason) the condition one can expect
to find the vehicle in respect to each number, highlighting these areas: Body -
dents, dings, rust, rust-out, paint, trim. Mechanical - running or not,
originality, what has been replaced or rebuilt.
Interior - degree of wear, condition of instruments, and I guess the soft top could
be included in this category. Dollars to be added for wire wheels, hardtop, OD
trans, etc.

It could be fun if you came up with a preliminary rating system and send it out to
the list for comments and suggestions, then publishing the "final" version on your
site.
As far as pricing, that's a tough one. Perhaps taking prices from the THOROUGHBRED
AND CLASSIC CARS web site and adding a couple of percent to them, and/or asking the
listers what they have bought/sold their cars for over the past two years.
The future success of the price guide will depend on the honesty (as far as
description of the vehicle) and continuing input to you concerning transactions in
order to keep the guide current.

It should be stressed that it is only a GUIDE, not to be taken as gospel, and used
ONLY to get an IDEA as to the value of the car as it corresponds to it's condition.
