Attaching Roll Bars

On attaching roll bars, I am in the process of doing so. It is a bolt on
type that fits all on the rear shelf. I've already drilled the holes and
there are no double layers. So, I'm not sure what part you are talking
about on that.

As far as welding them in, I've been told that bolting is the method of
preference. Good strong bolts - or even weak ones - with a decent backing
plate - are a gazillion times stronger than the sheet metal you are
attaching them too. So, consider that your weakest link is the metal, not
the bolts. Secondly, welding that metal will weaken the metal further.
So, you are even weakening your weakest link. Based upon that, I decided
to bolt.

Oh, yes I do have backing plates.
