Rob,
I have an electric cooling fan mounted in front of the radiator and it
works really well in traffic. I removed the old one from my series II which
was a big six bladed unit made of metal which must have used up
considerable horsepower to turn. The electric one is manual operated from a
switch on the dash and once I got it to turn the correct way I've had no
trouble, it actually lowers rather than just maintains the coolant
temperature. The one thing I would say though is it is quite noisy and your
climate may be a bit hotter than here in England.
The fan was acquired from a breakers yard and was easy to install and very
cheap.
Dave
