suspension question

Hi alpiners

Can anyone help me with this query.

On earlier front suspensions (pre 65?), there is an extra bracket linking
the upper wishbone anchorage points through the inner guard to the chassis
rail. This means extra work and shimming when altering camber settings. This
bracket is not there on later suspensions, and I can see no other changes.

Is there any benefit to this bracket being there. It obviously strengthens
things up a bit, but is this significant and/or beneficial?

Can it be removed from earlier suspensions with no ill effects, or are the
cross members different also?

Greg
