Another stupid dist. question.
I have now determined that the centrifugal advance is not working.
Took out the Pertronix unit and back in with the points. Static timed
to 8 degrees with a point gap .015. Disconnected vacuum line and started
car. The timing never moved from 8 regardless of the rpm.
Took points out and stationary breaker plate to get a look at the
centrifugal cams.
I don't quite understand how they move. They seem frozen on the shaft.
1. Should I be able to move the cams so as to advance the timing
manually.
2. Should I be able to lift the weight ect. off the shaft.
3.What should I feel, see, or do?
Thanks guys.
Someday maybe I can post an answer instead of a question.
Matt
