Anyone have any ideas about what size tubing would be "better" for the
Alpine exhaust pipe? I'm soon going to take my car to the muffler shop to
get a new system and figured as long as I had the choice I should inquire.
The stock size is 1 5/8". I know from the seat of my pants, 1 3/4" and
even 2" sounds "better". But, I also know that without dynoing, it's
really just a shot in the dark. I also know that getting bigger really
just helps the top end - unless it is so small that it's choking off the
bottom end too. I also know that since I'm not making the headers or Y
tube any different right now, it probably doesn't do much. But, I'm
running the Holbay better flowing head and dual Webers. And I figure one
day I will finally get myself proper Holbay exhaust headers. So, I might
as well have the rest ready for that.
Oh, and I'm also concerned that if I go too big, the bending radius of the
tube might be too big to fit up over the rear-end. The only issue here
really is that I'd have to run it under the rear-end like the Tigers. I
don't think this is a big deal. Just thought I'd mention it.
Thanks for any ideas.
