Not guilty Sir! I am Paul and the pic is of my car!
CANISDOG spoke to me re the filter set-up a while ago. Jon Arzt is
looking for one now. I have all the bits for mine, the filter shown in
the pic was how the car came to me.
Jon mainly wants the airbox for his Alpine-powered Camper. The
air-filter part is easier to fabricate from off-the-shelf parts (as my
picture shows), but the airbox is a real wierd thing.
As an aside, the reason the 'oil-can' aircleaner unit wasn't on the car
in the picture is because a DPO had fitted the wrong aircleaner element
in the can, and throw out the two rubber o-ring seals and hold-down
plate. Some time later, I bought a cyl-head from a 1970s Avenger-series
car which came with a single-carb Hillman air-cleaner box of totally
different design. Just as I was about to bin the Hillman aircleaner, I
noticed the hold-down plate....and two o-rings. Bugger-me, they fitted
the S3 oil-can aircleaner box! The air-cleaner element from the Hillman
was even the correct one for my car, so I had the correct part number!
Mulder and Scully, eat your hearts out :-)
Cheers,
Paul.
Serendipity in action.
