Guys,
Last year I swapped my 4:22's in my series V with 3:89's. I run about
3400 rpm's at 55mph.

With all this chatter about swapping rear ends I want to pass along
some research I did to hopefully keep the speedometer near correct.
The first 10,000 Series 5 Alpines that came with 4.22 no od came with a
14 tooth speedometer driving pinion . When changing your rearend to a
3.89 you can go to a 13 tooth pinion which should turn your speedometer
and odometer about 8 percent faster, just like the rear wheels will now
be doing. That's my untested theory but it makes sense to me.I'll know
for sure when the SNOW melts, the salt washes away and I can get back
out on the road. The pinion was available at SS.
