Dave,
Just replaced mine on the Sunbeam Talbot and I would imagine yours
would be similar. I bought a remnant of a commercial conveyer belt about
24" wide by 7' long x 1/8" thick neoprene (looks like rubber) impregnated
nylon woven material. I cut it into strips 1 1/2" wide and found that a 22"
length made the proper loop taking into account the part that is under the
clamp.
An industrial bearing supply place here also carried all kinds of
conveyor belting. Good place to start looking. Without these straps, if the
spring failed the axle and wheel would be right into the top of the wheel
well and could cause a serious accident.
Later,
Bob
