In an attempt to bring my s3 '63 back to some sort of real sunbeam I am
replacing the steering with the correct parts and pieces. I have a couple of
questions:
1. Is there a steel plate between the wheel well and the steering unit?
The guy who owned my car did some very strange things in his restoration.
So I've started to question everything I see. The steering unit bolts to
the plate, the plate is bolted to the wheel well. The bolt holes in the
wheel well don't align with the steering unit from the s3 I've taken it from.
2. Is the center steering rod parallel to the firewall? The way this
thing is going together the center rod is about an inch closer to the
firewall on the right hand side.
3. The bushings in center rod, has anyone used teflon bushes? If so
where did you buy them or did you make them? I can make them but I'm
finding time is getting more precious daily.
This all got start because of the engine rebuild. Go figure?
