I just started my series IV up the other day, and have been having trouble
with a weber I purchased for it. The weber was used and from a VW bug
1600cc. I presume that the jets should be similar as a result. When we first
got the car running, we filled the float bowl manually with 2 stroke oil for
the first break-in. The car ran fine, and we were able to adjust the idle to
a comfortable 1000rpm. The next day, running on 4stroke gas, we could not
get the engine to idle at all. The carb was dismantled and the jets were
blown out. This had no effect. The engine is running very lean and we can
only open the choke at upwards of 4000rpm without having it stall out.
My next idea is to adjust the float level. Does anyone have the specs for
this adjustment (Weber DGV manual choke)? Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Andrew Gregg
