I have removed the gearbox without the engine.
I unbolted the tail pipe from the manifold.
I removed the downpipe where the oil is added to the rocker cover( up top
close to the firewall).
This allowed for enough room for the engine to tilt.
I too have an OD and was able to drop gearbox to do my clutch.
