My main question is which is better for a stock motor- a Weber 45 DCOE or a Weber 40 DCOE? Car you change the throttle bores in a 45 to make it a 40 or a 38? Thanx.

Tom and folks,

For a single carb application, a 45mm DCOE would be great for a stock
alpine, and a single 40 really is smaller than you can use.

No you cant put 40 or 38mm throttles on a 45 case.

Reading on down the list or attached messages I see someone
is contemplating the purchase of a 45mm carb for $250.
I would like to mention that one can buy them new for $245
from new york, with free shipping.

If its a used 45 carb you are after, a single carb typically runs
$100 to $125 used but in usable shape.
A pair usually runs $300 as they typically are matched sets.

Look for a 45mm carb with 32 or 33mm chokes.
