Don Sesslar's 64 F-Production car

I purchased a X-SCCA race car last week which has turned out to be the 1964
Series IV that Don Sesslar and Dan Carmicheal raced. This was the
semi-factory supported team of Sports Car Forum.

Based on the documentation, found in the bottom of part boxes, which traces
the car back to Dan and the physical details on the car there is little
doubt this is the car. This is pretty exciting being that it won the 64
F-production championship and went on to be raced by Dan to win a Division
Title (unless there was more than one SIV car prepared which I don't believe
was the case, there was the SIII that raced prior to this car)

The good news is the car is exactly like it was left from 1968. The paint
is original with a patina of wear. All details are with the car.
Unfortunately the engine is in poor shape and I doubt that it could be
saved.

The engine has a crack below the generator. It appears that somebody took
an aluminum plate and patched. The repair is very nicely done but could
have the car been run like this???

The head is cracked on the pushrod side and probably can't be saved. It has
been shaved .125" which was the way it was raced.

Fortunately, I have a mechanic's diary (or possibly this was the guide for
the future owner) on how the car was prepared exactly for the 1967 Daytona
race.

If anybody has any information regarding this car I would greatly appreciate
any facts. I have found the ad featuring the car and a very good website
documenting some of the facts on Sports Car Forum
(http://www.best.com/~rootes1/car14.htm).

For those out there racing Sunbeams any information that may assist in
getting the engine rebuilt would be appreciated. When you see the detail
that went into this engine it is somewhat intimidating being that I have
only prepared stock motors.
