I made a home-made spring compressor about ten years ago. It worked fine
until I took the ball joints off and decompressed the spring. Even though
it looked like the spring was fully compressed when it came to the end of
the threaded rod. BANG!!! Wow, what energy. Make sure you get the
thickest that will fit the hole and long enough and then a bit extra. The
only thing I could not do is press in the new bushings. Be patient with the
bolts going into the frame. I used a long pipe for leverage and snapped a
bolt off. I wouldn't wish that nightmare on anyone. Plenty of Aerokroil
to loosen the bolts.
