Well guys...I'm not so sure that that badge was a repro. I was looking
through my stash of used parts and came across an interesting discovery.
I have some badges that have a very defined 'G' and others that don't.
As a matter of fact, both badges on my Harringtons are the ones that
look more like a 'C' than a 'G'. And believe me, they are original
badges, NOT repros. This I am sure of. I have only purchased one repro
badge in my life time and it came from Rick. The best way I can tell
between the repro and an original is the white oval on the crown. The
original is a much flatter oval than the repro, which is a larger more
round one.
It is very possible, that during production, vendors could have changed
OR quite simply the tooling used began to wear out causing the letters
to become less defined. There could also be a number of other reasons
for why this could have happened. Remember, nothing is perfect.
