Chris,
The guy that rebuilt my carbs noticed they were lean at idle. He drilled
out the idle jet to the next size up. Can't tell you whether my motor is
bored out, sorry. Yes, the accel pump delivers fuel under the initial
throttle opening. I think from memory the 36WIP-3 on a S2 has a No 70
accel jet.
Yes, there is an 'easy' way to check some of the jets. If you have an
Alpine parts list, all the correct jet sizes are listed there. If you
don't have one, then I can look up your jet sizes for you. The high
speed bleed jet isn't stamped, so you can't check it this way.
Choke tubes 30mm, shine a torch down the top of the carb and look for
3mm high stamp '30' just at the top of the grey alloy choke tube.
Metering jet No142, stamped in jet inder the carb body.
I'll need to check on the idle jet, high speed bleed and accel jet to be
sure.
Stay with it. Even after rebuilding mine the rear throttle is still
sticking, grrrr.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Paul.
