If you look inside the tranny tunnel, there's a brace that runs across it
right before the shifter hole. It hangs a good 2.5-3 inches below the top of
the tunnel, making for a very tight fit for almost any tranny that's not
stock. I don't think removing it will have any detrimental effects...
