I just got back from David Pina's house in Redwood City, just south of SF.
And there it was.... a 1967.5 SRL311-000701. The car has been sitting in his
detached garage for many years and finally he decided to bring it outside for
a rebuild.
Alittle about the car. This particular 67.5 SRL311 is a racecar. But not a
racecar like many will think. This car has a history! And an incredible
history too. Over the few hours that I spent looking at his car and extra
parts such as a few U20 heads, 5.11 LSD's, brand new Solex and manifold
set.....etc he explained about the cars history and then he pulled out the
actual race log books. They are from back in the early '70's when this car
was owned by the parts manager of BRE.
But what may have been the highlight of the whole experience was yet to come.
He put a VCR tape into the machine and what played was a vintage Datsun
Commercial that talked about the racing program and it showed several of the
BRE cars. And it also showed his car on the track sitting next to a BRE 510
and BRE 240Z. It actually brought shivers to my spine. ;>) (Hey Greg
V..... make a good quicktime?)
Anyway, we took a quick drive in my Roadster through the hills and then I
buzzed back home. I have a couple pics of his car that I will soon post.
Btw... he is asking for $5,000 obo for everything. Yeah right! ;>)
