being a regular lurker i normally don't get invoved w/such things, but
perhaps Guy should look at january's (i think) issue of car and driver
where they attempt to recreate a roll over due to a rapid tire
deflation. i am sympathetic with people who have been killed or
injured in an auto accident, however, i am hard pressed to believe
that there is no driver error or excessive speeds involved in some of
these roll-overs. anyone who claims to not be informed of the
inherant handling capabilities of a s.u.v. and there tendancy to
roll-over is imho not telling the truth and blaming these accidents on
ford for a vehicle design flaw borders on rediculous--i have a 98 ford
explorer sport and yes, i did once have a tire go flat on the same
vehicle at highway speeds and at no time during the incident did the
vehicle even come close to rolling over. i'm not saying that i
believe there is no defect in the firestone tires in question, i just
question the fact that a tread separation can cause a vehicle to flip
if that vehicle is operated with some level of competance--i.e. the
driver doesn't panic, turn the wheel and slam on the brakes when a
tire fails.

as for the roadster stuff, my 69 2000 is going in for paint after
being stripped to the metal--fortunately very little rust was
found--from there, i keep it for the summer and then begin the sr20det
transplant this coming fall/winter.
