Here's a bit of controversy, maybe.
Most of us are probably used to telling people, "It kinda looks like an MG"
when talking about our cars with people who don't know them.
Most of us are also aware that the Datsun Sports was released before the
MGB.
Having said that, I pulled up next to an MGA today, and some similarities
struck me. I don't know the measurements, but at a glance, the length &
width of the "A" is quite similar to the Datsun. Furthermore, the line of
the front fender on the Datsun is reminiscent (sp?)of the MGA - that lovely
curve from windshield to headlight is one of my favourite parts of the
Datsun design. There's even a sort of similarity of the two front
treatments, respectively.
Certainly, it made me think of the Datsun more than an MGB does - some
people's taillights notwithstanding! ;)
So, what do you guys think? Our beauties a kind of squared off MGA? Like a
seperate family tree! (Bastard black sheep son ran off to Japan, the rest is
history!)
