I'm Jon from Bothell, Wa. I own a '69 2000 and have the same issue. I
probably bought mine from the same guy you did?
I'm also interested in the answer once you find it out. I would appreciate
some feedback when you discover the answer. I actually had thought that it
was somehow held down by the metal piece that runs the length of the bow but
there doesn't seem to be much of a lip to do this on the rubber.
