In an article in Sports Car Market, Porsche guru Jim Schrager was discussing
Solex carbs. He was talking about a guy with an early 911 who kicked butt at
club track events & that he spent a full 8 hours setting up his Solex carbs
every season which gave him a big advantage.

Do these things really require that much tuning? Are Solexes on 2000's
different from those on early 911's?

I think the article was saying many 911's with Solex carbs are running OK just
not as well as they would if they were precision tuned.

On an off topic-topic there is a 61 Alfa Giulietta Spyder on ebay right now,
even if you don't care for those the level of detail both in the car and the
auction are inspiring. Gleaming spectacular national concours winning, lead
and not body filler used in the bodywork, photos of the bare naked body shell.
