Alvin, sorry to hear of your mishap but glad you're alive. Don't be too
quick to swear at someone, though. There are a lot of ignorant truck
drivers, but they're not necessarily out to "get" someone. A friend of
mine has a big 4x4, and has told me of nearly clobbering smaller cars
when he changes lanes. I asked him if he completely scopes out the lane
before moving into it. He said he can't see over the right door window
edge, so if someone is there it's up to them to avoid him if he moves
over! I told him that's totally wrong, either he's going to kill
someone, or they're going to kill him. I begged him to absolutely be
sure that a lane is clear before moving into it, or to get rid of the
truck. He's a really nice friendly guy and would never hurt anyone
intentionally, but is very naove and ignorant.

By the way, me and Annie had a close one a few days ago. In Redwood
City, we stopped at a train crossing just behind the tracks, left lane.
I told her "look at that fool, he stopped his freight truck on the
tracks, what if...". Bunch of traffic stopped ahead after the tracks,
traffic behind the truck in right lane. Ding, ding, ding go the warning
bells. The fool starts backing up in panic mode, cars behind trying to
get out of his way, and the crossing guard-rail comes down and breaks
across the truck and pieces scatter on the tracks. The CalTrain zipped
by from the right and barely missed the nose of the truck. If it hit,
the truck carcass would have slammed into us.

I was driving into work this morning on 280N, 7:45am. Somehow I end up
behind a huge, lifted Ford 4x4 truck with gigantic tires. I move over 1
lane
to pass this guy...going less than 65mph...GRIND!!!! This son of a bitch
hit
me with his front tire!!!!!! I couldn't beleive it. It was unreal. I
totally feaked out. I turned around and told him to pull over, I
actually
screamed, "Pull over you mother^&%#$#!!!"
So we move over 3 lanes to the shoulder and I stop the roadster. This is
how
upset I was. I covered my eyes as I got out to see the damage to the
rear
driver's fender....it was only a scuff on the bumper...thank goodness!
The
dude said all he could see was my roll bar, yet he still tried to switch

lanes....if he had committed to it no doubt that tire would have hopped
over
my entire car!

I used my thumb to rub off the tire mark...the SOB says,"That's a nice
car,"
and I told him I had to go. He was a wearing one of those "hands free-I
am
so hip and hi-tech-ear phone" gizmos.
There's a first time for everything I guess...but from this day forth I
will
take extreme caution when driving near 4x4s, in the Bay Area :( Pics of
the scuff before I cleaned her up...leave those bumpers on!!!
