Yea, take a stroll down the large hardware stores - it is amazing what
you will find.

 Also - Mobile home tie-down strapping is nice galvanized strap with no
holes and easily formed.  A mobile home supply house will have a bunch
and may give some to you.  Glue strips from an old inner tube with
contact cement for padding between the strap and tank and you will be
good to go.

Home depot has "plumbers strap" or "pipe strap" look around the water
heaters.
not 100% correct but that strapping has a bunch of series of holes that
would work pretty good, strong stuff.better than JB weld.

JB weld is a good fix for lots of stuff but not that.
walk through you local home store, you would be surprised what you come
up with, even the "j" bolt hangars are there
