Could be a simple a good clean and re-lube.
You may need to dismount it and give it a good scrub up in a solvent to
remove decades of fluff and crud.
I then wipe a layer of White Grease all over the mechanism and work it into
everything with my fingers
Although, being the drivers door, the one that ALWAYS gets used, there may
be some wear and tear involved in the mechanism.
As a quick fix, squirt a dose of WD40 or similar into the latch and see if
that frees it up. 


I have determined that the door latch (in the door) does not "lock down"
any more and the door swings open when going around corners.  Is this a
repair situation or does any one have a replacement latch.  The slightest
of effort has the swing latch popping up to the open position and there is
no  solid click when you push it down to the engaged position.
