I was told one of the most important reasons for fixing a pump like that is
because gas if leaking out the weep hole can also be getting into the
crankcase
and gas in the oil is BAD for the engine parts. So Nissan sells a rebuild kit
with diaphram a rubber seal but only the early pumps are easily rebuildable.
