I think our Quaife has a button with float.

I hope the movement of the hub does settle down. It is moving into
interference territory between the drum and the brake shoes.

Yesterday Joe Alexander posted a question regarding axle end play
        changing with some use.

I have experienced the same thing, but it seems to have settled down
and
did not change as a result of an event during which we put four
hours of
        racings speeds on the car.

When I initially put my Quaiffe in the car, I was surprised and
frustrated that I couldn't get the proper end play on each side. I
was
under the impression, perhaps mistaken, tht the center thrust button
had
a small amount of float, and that you could shim both axles and then
equalize them. This was not so with my Quaiffe.

Has anyone had one of these apart, and could you tell us if the
center
thrust button is fixed or has float?
