Amici,
There are two more weekends before the HSR Classic @ Road Atlanta and I
have my rebuilt engine back in the car and RUNNING! As far I know,
nobody's ever been this far ahead ever before a race. At least it's never
been heard of by any of the cronies I hang out with.
But, naturally, there are a couple of worries with which I need a little
help. The first has to do with the old pulley syndrom. I put the old fat
one back on and it flails about and rattles disconcertedly(is that a
word?). Whatever it is it just ain't right for my new tight fresh motor. I
understand that the quick fix is to get a GT-6 water pump pulley and an MGB
vibration dampener and modify things from there. The problem is that I
can't find the GT-^ thing. Any ideas? Alternatives?
The other concern is that I will be pulling probably 30 more HP than the
old motor which ran fine with the standard radiator. It just looks like
I'm headed into the dreaded arena of cooling deficiencies. I added an oil
cooler but is that going to be enough? Since my car is streetable, I still
have a heater (go ahead you real racers...laugh!) I guess I can use it to
augment the cooling. I wonder if it can count for enough BTUs to make a
difference. Whatch you'll think? With two weeks to worry about things, I
should be able to address these two items con gusto.
Thanks for your views.
