The original cc: on this had the wrong url. I have suggested that TR2 be
added to list as well as Spitfires/GT6s, TR7/TR8. Please read full text below.

The fact that many of us are acutely aware of this potential problem
helps reduce the number of incidents. I think that it is important to
document the degree of failure that has been found.by such routine
maintenance.

The fact that the roll-over occurred despite careful scrutiny by the
drivers is a key issue, but the number of roll-overs is not a true indication
of the real frequency of axle failure. For example, my TR3A racecar has had
an average of one axle replaced at least every three to four races. I do not
know if others are experiencing as high a rate of replacement? (They
probably do not visit the corner workers as frequently as I do.)

Please also include TR2s in your request. I also have Don Geise (1955)
TR3 race car that was rebuilt from the remains of his TR2. His TR2 was
totaled at Mid-Ohio because of axle failure in about 1969 or 1970. He was
using the so called 2.2 kit, so it is just not the higher horsepower engines
of today that experienced this problem.

Before submitting it, you might also see if the Spitfire/GT6/TR7/TR8
group have similar problems. Sometimes their is strength in numbers. And new
blood at SCCA may be willing to take a look at this in a different light in
their are more racers behind it.
