And I clearly pointed out the difference, "...It may not be by the
government but it is by a living breathing person called a reporter,
editor, producer, etc..."

I too have been a Reporter, a Journalist and an Editor. In the example
given that some unnamed Euro or Arab news outlet was not "censoring" is
laughable. What ties does that outlet have to it's "host" government? What
ties does the publisher, editor, etc... have to a particular political
philosophy?

Yes and Editor does have to act as gatekeeper since there are not enough
trees in the forest to print ALL sides and takes on an issue. But let's be
honest. The choice of word or phase in a "news" story or what does not get
reported is often times even more important to what does.

Red letter. True it may not have been Websters definition of censorship but
the reality is vastly different.

Just like with the case of "The Reagans" that CBS did not air last month
and moved to Showtime. It was not "true" censorship per se (despite the
bleatings from others) as the gov'mnt did not tell them they could not air
it, but nonetheless they made an editorial decision to self-censor.

So to be clear. I did not raise a flag or paint a picture. I merely pointed
out that the King is naked.
