I have ceramic lifters in Peyote, got them from the guy that advertises in
Grassroots Motorsports. So far, so good. they show absolutely no wear. I had
them in the motor when I wiped the cam. As you know, it's supposed to be an
absolute no-no to use old lifters with a new cam (though I've done it with
no real problem). With these it was clearly not an issue since the lifters
were indistingushable from new. Not a mark. The cam lobes looked great as
well. I pulled the motor down again last week after Sears Point to check
everything out (you never know if you got that last bit of metal when
something comes apart like that)--all perfect. One tiny rod bearing score
from something that the bearing captured and buried. Replaced the bearing.

>From what I understand in talking with other people who use them, they are
wonderful unless you have any hard shock, like spring binding or a valve
hitting a piston, and then they break.

I can't speak for Dave, but I know this guy
http://www.schubeckracing.com/ makes ceramic lifters for MGB's. Maybe he
has or could make them for a TR6 motor. He also has some pretty trick
valve train components besides the ceramic lifters.

Dave,

Wally Hicks in VA (703-450-5540) is porting my heads. I don't have any
flow
numbers from him, but he has ported several heads for the TVR 2500M
crowd
and I have heard nothing but exstatic praise (the reason why I went to
him).
Trust me, TVR owners get pretty weird (even messy) when they get
exstatic.

Wally's expertise is small block BMC motors as used in racing Turners,
for
which he IS the MAN. As I said, I have no hard numbers on how his BMC
experience translates to TR6'. Give him a call.

Now, quid pro quo; where did you get the ceramic lifters, and how are
they
wearing?
