I got all excited yesterday when I stumbled across a complete set of used
Koni shocks for a Spitfire or Herald, tucked away in a box in a corner of the
loft of my barn. Actually, I knew I'd had the pair of front shocks, but I'd
totally forgotten that there was a pair of rear shocks as well.

The rears seem to be ok, if a bit surface rusted where they should be the
Koni red. One of the front ones seems ok (again, a bit of surface rust), but
the other seems to have seized up.

On a whim, I e-mailed Koni USA to enquire about their rebuilding service.
Ouch! Turns out it's $110 per shock, plus $30-40 for parts. Last I knew, that
works out to more than new ones. Darn!

Maybe I'll just go ahead, see if I can't free up the one, get some rattle
can of red spray paint....

*Mrs Irrelevant: Oh, is it a jet?
*Man: Well, no ... It's not so much of a jet, it's more your, er, Triumph
Herald engine with wings.
