Basic "visiting firemen" courtesy though to let the Brits run. It's a
common problem in vintage racing of all stripes.

When I helped put on the Columbia River Classic race with SOVREN I
was pestering the competition committee to grant a waiver for some
cars so we could get a bunch of non-conforming cars to run--it was a
small event that we wanted to grow, and there are a lot of cars in
Portland and Northern California that meet SCCA requirements but not
SOVREN. They said there's no way we will grant a waiver, but we don't
prevent people from running their cars when they first want to run
with us. Have them enter and give us an honest description of their
cars. We'll consult with them during tech and point out the non-
conforming elements. As long as they make progress toward bringing
their cars into conformance then we'll work with them."

I thought that was a pretty masterful way to include people in the
event and move them towards full participation. And in fact many of
the guys here have started or even completely moved their cars into
conformance. It was interesting to note that the non-conforming cars
had no apparent competitive advantage. They got waxed by the regulars.

I don't know if that's a way that the SVRA would agree to work, but
it seems inclusion and ultimate correction is a more constructive
policy than exclusion.
