Incidentally, with corn futures at $5.60 a bushel and Soybeans at
$12.00 farmers that grow any potential fuel crop are pretty delirious
these days, as are farmers in general, since using corn for fuel and
other factors seem to have driven food up enough to compete with
gasoline as an expense.

I remember when farmers were politicking like mad to get the
government to invest in ethanol production. Now they're being a lot
more quiet since the "green" aspect of alternate fuel production is
being given the scrutiny it always deserved. As usual, politically
motivated "science" sends us down paths that don't deliver real
change. Just politics. I can't help but view people who jump on
bandwagons as suckers.

Assuming climate issues and pollution get worse, I wonder if anyone
will remember that the Kyoto accord enabled BRIC (Brazil, Russia,
India and China) to capture the lion's share of worldwide
manufacturing growth in extremely unregulated environments. Anyone who
thinks it was labor costs alone needs to visit a lights out machining
facility. Uneconomical and going out of business in the US, but not in
China. I wonder why that is?
