I had taken a transmission to Diest Safety several years ago and had these 
SFI rated ballistic blankets made up.  these are about 1/2 inch layered 
balistic nylon.  They fit perfectly as they are cut to fit our 
transmissions.Tr3/4/6.  They have a reflective aluminized side where the 
header pipe is.  Several tabs up front and bolts to the transmission bell, 
wraps around and ties together on bottom with double d rings and straps. 
They use the same stuff on Dragsters and seems to work for their needs.
