I had what appeared to be a very similar rear seal failure experience=C2=A0=
 with a TR3 engine. The mechanic that did the engine rebuild diagnosed the =
leak to be his failure to correctly seal the rear bearing cap. After he sea=
led the rear bearing cap correctly, I never had any oi leak issues with tha=
t engine.Gary

 seal. The original scroll seal is still there. Usually if there is a leak =
after installing the aftermarket rubber seal it is not the main seal. It is=
 usually something else.=C2=A0 =C2=A0To leak 2.5 quarts of oil=C2=A0 in 100=
 miles is major. I would be looking at other places first. Get some UV oil =
dye from the local parts store and put in the oil. Then look to see where i=
t is actually coming from.=C2=A0Oil flex hose to gauge, rear of valve cover=
, etc.=C2=A0 Also have seen them leak along the side of the rear main cap t=
o the block, if they are not sealed up correctly.=C2=A0If it is the rear ma=
in leaking that much oil the seal will never stop it. You probably had to l=
ittle clearance on the rear scroll and the seal surface is damaged.=C2=A0=

t. I am confident he did a good job drilling and tapping holes etc.=C2=A0 I=
 had hoped that I would not have rear crankshaft oil leaks.=C2=A0 In the pa=
st year I have driven the car a little over 1,000 miles 25 miles at I time =
and recently noticed those infamous oil spots on the driveway.=C2=A0 Today =
I visited my British Car friends at Tech Central in Bonita Springs a 100-mi=
le round trip on I-75 nonstop at 65-75 mph.=C2=A0 Fortunately, I carried 2.=
5 quarts of oil because I had to use it to fill the crankcase when I got th=
ere and had to add 2.5 quarts when I got home.=C2=A0 In addition, I notice =
the clutch slipping in 4th gear in overdrive if I accelerated.=C2=A0 No dou=
bt caused by oil on surface of the friction plate.=C2=A0When I got home the=
 weep hole in the transmission bell housing was producing one oil drop ever=
y three seconds and when running the engine at fast idle one drop of oil ev=
ery second.=C2=A0Has anyone had a failure using this seal conversion kit?=
