Racers,

Looks like my question will fit right into the current discussion, so I'll
jump in here. My ECTA rules state that in Altered "No Streamlining
allowed"..."Bumpers, grills and headlights may be removed and the openings
so created may be filled or covered. The filled or covered area may be
flush with the adjacent body; the basic shape and of the vehicle cannot be
changed."

This bit about the "adjacent body" is the part I want to be sure I'm not
reading anything into. My hood and fenders extend 6" beyond the radiator
support which my grill and headlight buckets mount to. There's a bright
perimeter trim around their edges with a nice flat surface behind it. My
plan is to remove this trim and to run a plate from the forward edge of the
hood, down the fenders and over the lowest (turn signal) openings in the
front valance. I think that's in the spirit of the Altered rules. Opinions?

P.S. I've been really impressed with the quality discussions lately. This
list is the sounding board I wish I'd had when I was putting the car back
together last year.
