List,
Nitrous is safe if you handle it properly! Just like so many things that
we do, there are risks involved with its use, handling, and
transportation.

I grumbled a bit when I was told by the inspectors at Speedweek, that I
had to have the relief valve vented to the outside of the car. I had
overlooked the new rule, but of course I complied. Later in the week, I
realized how important that rule is when a spare bottle resting in my
open trailer. got too much sun and the relief valve did its trick. The
bottle stayed put, although it was not tied down, but the noise of
escaping pressure got everyone's attention.

Nitrous is not "flammable" it consist of 30% oxygen, however, which
would feed a fire nicely if released. That is the thinking behind
venting it outside the vehicle, I suppose.

Safety is paramount in what we do, in my connection with this sport I
have seen many changes in the rule book. Most of the rules we must apply
had a high cost and were paid for by someone in our past.
