Heading out for the Gas Up and dry lakes racing hall of fame. This is
one of the best get together each year. Around 700 racers come to this
event each year to see their peers inducted into the hall. The inductees
of the past enjoy this event and to see the gathering of these people
and the cars and bikes on display is hard to describe.
You can bet the first timers will be in awe as there is no politics,
just great fun and bench racing. The tri-tip steaks and other food just
helps make it better. The atmosphere is kind of like the first day of
inspection on the salt with everyone getting a chance to visit.
The many pictures taken are a joy to look back on and to remember those
people being inducted are what makes this sport the great sport it is.
The hall of fame is does honor these people. It's to bad we don't have a
place to display the land speed history such as the NHRA Museum. They
have a lot of lakes and Bonneville items on display, but there is much
more out there. Will try to give an up date of the week end happenings
when I get back.
