hello.. maybe out of a Chevy V-6 if it had to be a chevy...
or a buick v-6....
better would be a ferrari 355...i think that is right aroud
4 liters..i know they make 480 hp in street trim...been
there done that. 
Cheapest american iron that would set a memorable record in
my opinion  would be a 302 Ford with a 4.03 bore and 2.5
stroke and about 10k rpm...yates heads,180 flat crank, slide
throttles and efi.. 
might be a fun little piece..
I might be able to get a 3.4 liter ferrari used IMSA piece
for about 40k if that might interest anyone..Dynos at 540 hp
@10k rpm...N/A
