Dick and Cris check out www.LS1.com they have a complete forum on there that
includes Holdens. The new genaration Holdens use the same engine family as
the 4th generation GM F Bodies. What alot of people refer to as an LS1 is
not just based on the same design. Camaros, Firebirds, and Corvettes have an
all aluminum 5.7 liter motor 325 hp. This is the true LS1. The 2000 and up
Chevrolet trucks have a cast iron block version based on 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, and
7.4 liters. These are some of the stoutest motors GM has brought out since
the muscle car era. For a better description of these motors check out
www.gmpowertrain.com . The LS1 is listed as an other motor that is how
special it is. Too bad they won't manufacture or import the Holden here in
the states. This 4 door sedan is a great grocery getter with 320 to 335 hp
and a 6 speed.
Bill
I know Corvette fans I left out the LS6 version, but that is another
creature reserved only for the Corvettes.
