Hi Folks, this is nothing really new or brilliant, but today in checking
the 290 Ardun over after it ran about 20 minutes last Thursday, I ran a
compression test, and it now shows a range of 175-185 psi in the
cylinders, up from the 145-155 it showed prior to running the first
time. This of course is just the effect of the cast iron rings seating.
The pressure may go up even more as they seat in fully. The nominal
compression ratio is about 11.5, and the Isky track cam closes the
intake valves about 70 degrees after bottom center, so at cranking speed
a good deal of the compression blows out the intake valves.
Anyhow, I think the 175-185 is kind of promising for a gas Ardun.
