Tim Cunha and list-----Tim, what I think you saw was a P-39 Aerocobra. It was
painted a dark color. There was also several P-51 Mustangs at Van Nuys . One
of these was owned at the time by Bob Bleadon, a pilot friend of mine at
Continental Airlines. His partner in the P-51 was Dave Zuechel ( I dought I
have the spelling right) , fuel Hemi engine genius and later Merlin engine
wizard. Dave's sister Karen is married to Bill Mathews ( Van Nuys High) , a
founder of the Gold Coast Roadster and Racing Club, of which I am a member.
