It has been a dozen years since I was a Bonneville riding a motorcycle,
but thought I'd chime in.  When tucked in, I laid my head sideways on
the tank behind the fairing and watched the line at the side.  That was
good for about 5-10 seconds at a time, at which point self-preservation
took hold and I'd sneak a peak over the top to see where I was going. 
Might have worked, since we set a record, but ....
 
(If anyone is thinking "coward", try driving down a straight country
road at a nice safe 55 mph while looking only out the passenger window.
Betcha can't do it either!)
 
 Next time, I'll graft a piece of clear Lexan on the nose.
