I have some info somewhere regarding an alloy Flathead
developed for aircraft use circa 1935. The plane even had
a '35 grille. The block wasn't strong enough in the crankcase
centre main area.
The early 4-AT Ford Trimotor used Wright J-6 235 hp engines
Later 5-AT models, Pratt & Whitney Wasp engines of round 400hp.

A special all aluminium very shiny "T" truck was built to
haul mail for Ford Air transport service to match the alloy bodied

Ford planes ruled from 1926-1936. TWA replaced them with
Douglas DC 2's & 3's.
