O.K. I have stayed out of the power loss debates so far. The last
couple of months I have been helping tech for a road race group called
N.A.S.A. They run a class called A.S.C. American Stock Car. Now the
rules make you run a sealed ZZ4 crate motor. The motors have been
dynoing at 361 to 366 HP at the crank. This weekend we ran them on a
Dynojet chassis dyno. I will give you a sample of what we found below.
The main thing that I found interesting was this, Some cars had Ford 9",
some with Quick changes. Some had Jerico's some with T-10's. All had the
same spec tire and about the same rear gear ratio. So what was so
interesting? This--- They ALL lost the same amount of power!!!
        Highest power 308.0 Lowest 302.2
        Highest torque 362.3 Lowest 361.7
The car with the 308 power ran in the back and the lowest power car
won by 4 sec.
I think most of this power train loss figuring and charting is just a
case of mental masturbation.
